Ah, spring time, and the livin' is easy, expecially (see Kersina's wordsnob post) when it's Spring Break. Depending on how you count 'em up, it's either 10 days or 6 days of doing something else. However the something else usually ends up being spent in the classroom getting ready for when Spring Break is over. Today the something else was driving up to Chico with a fellow teacher to spend $$ on books for the classroom. There is a great place called Teachers Exchange that has paperback books we can buy for our students, and we get 30% off, so I bought over $500 worth of books for $400. Such a deal! We have hit that time of year where most teachers feel that we have hit the top of a giant roller coaster and are now picking up speed and careening around corners so fast that we can barely hold on. Wasn't it only yesterday we were getting ready for Thanksgiving? Seems like it.
In a few months I'll be leaving for Washington DC with a group of students. We'll be visiting various sites on the east coast and enjoying the sights and sounds of the nation's capitol. Should be great! Just need to keep an eye on the kids.

T-day Countdown

Being in the classroom at this time of year is exciting. Children still feel the magic of holidays and it spreads to the adults. They love to hear the story of the first Thanksgiving and all about the Pilgrims and how they fared during that first wiinter. They are often surprised to learn about what the people really ate, and how long it lasted.

On my Mac

This is being written/composed on my beloved Mac. I was told that I could not link nor add pictures using the Mac, but I'm looking to see if this is correct.

So, my first blog

It's a pretty sad state of affairs when the family geek (that would be me) relies on her child to set up her first blog. But, that is the way this is getting started. Kersina started blogging when she was in Taiwan as a way of letting people know of her experiences w/o having to type them to all the people she chats with. I told her that in a few months I would be going to Washington DC with a group of 8th graders from my school and would be doing some blogging on a daily basis, so she offered to set up my own blog site. Wa-la, here it is. I do most of my computer work on my beloved Mac G-5, but since there are some limitations on what this site will let Macs do (not that the Mac has limitations, for we afficianados know they have no flaws nor limitations) I will be editing and uploading things on that other computer I sometimes use.
So, I shall be gaining experience in the world of blogging here and perfecting my art before I take my group to visit our nations's capital.
